Here are some customer reviews about XTOOL VAG401 AUDI scan tool.

@Jordan Doerksen: Invaluable tool for VAG vehicles.

Love this tool. Great entry level tool for VAG vehicles.

Vehicles I have used this tool with:
2004 Audi TT
2010 Audi TT
2013 Audi S4
2006 VW Jetta
2013 VW Golf

Pros:
– Easy to use
– Gets all VAG codes and lets me customize settings on any vehicle I have used it on so far.

Cons:
– Slow. Scanning can take a long time. If your vehicle supports automatic system scanning it can take up to 4 minutes for the scan to run. If you are scanning systems individually and one at a time it can take much longer. Fantastic if you are a home gamer and just want to troubleshoot your vehicle occasionally. will need something faster if you are a garage with any amount of volume.

@AM: Well worth the money

Worth the money for vw specific features. There really isn’t an alternative for the price. I prefer this over a wireless adapter. It’s also easier to use than lugging around a laptop and fiddling with USB cables. Cursive online for updates and specific procedures to help you out.

@Mr.Fix-it! AutoMech/Body Backyard Repair 40yrs.: YES!!! VW&AUDI Problem Solving tool!

There isn’t anything I dislike. This tool is a necessity for (VAG) VW & AUDI owners and has basic functions for other makes & models.
Tool is fabulous, & does everything I expected; it was shipped very fast, was packaged well, and price was super!

@Diy mechanic: Saved me from taking to dealer for steering code.

I had no problem updating or using the product on 2006 VW Jetta. I pulled airbag codes and steering code. I was able to repair them. It would be nice to have more information regarding the channels and coding. I would love to do some programming but it would require a great deal of online research to fine what I needed.

@Mehdi Kejji: Absolute must for VAG owner: Audi Volkswagen etc.

This is one amazing piece of equipment! It does the work of higher dollar pro scanner such as VCDS for much less. It does read codes from all sub systems in a VAG car and will help you clear them and diagnose them.

Two important notes: This is a lot less useful for cars outside VAG and it’s still short of VCDS abilities.
